Chapter 10
Logan and I leave the study and I head back to my room to throw on my bikini. He gave me a lot of new things to consider, but none more important than knowing that he hadn’t been lying to me last night, and that he’s not really engaged. Just knowing those two things makes it feel like a completely new day.
I head down to the pool by myself and only get lost a couple times—a vast improvement over the night before. It looks like I have the pool to myself for the time being, which is great because I need some time alone with my thoughts.
The pool water is cool and refreshing, and it doesn’t take long for my thoughts to come back to Logan’s study and how it felt to have him towering over me. A tiny tremor goes through my legs. My insides ache with the desire to have his exquisite cock inside of me. If he were in the pool with me right now I couldn’t be held responsible for my actions.
And what delicious actions they would be…
“So you and Logan know each other from the city?”
I let out another scream that nearly matches the one from earlier when I turn to see Lucas standing over me, outside of the pool. He’s wearing nothing but his confident smile and a pair of dark swim trunks. I have to admit, his body is a lot nicer than I was expecting of someone who looks like they’re in their mid forties.
“Jesus Christ!” I exclaim. “You have to stop sneaking up on me like that!”
He lets out an amused laugh.
“But it’s so much fun!”
“For you, maybe.”
He lowers himself into the pool next to me, giving me enough time to compose myself. Had I been touching myself when he walked up? Had he seen? I really need to stop losing myself like that int his place. There are too many people around that seem to pop out of nowhere.
Lucas dunks his head into the pool and pushes his hair back when he comes up again. He gives me a look as he wipes water off his face.
“Well?” he prompts.
“Yes, we know each other from the city.”
“And here I thought I knew all of Atwood’s business associates… How did you two meet?”
My insides tense. Is he getting suspicious or is he just trying to get to know me better?
“At a corporate networking event,” I say, hoping that satisfies his curiosity.
“Ah, yes...” There’s a gleam in his eyes as he admires me for another moment. “I can see why Logan would gravitate toward you.”
The subtle sincerity of the comment catches me off guard.
“Why do you say that?”
“Meetings, events, galas... They’re all so dreadfully boring!” He shifts himself just a little bit closer and runs a finger through a few strands of my blonde hair. “You have the look of someone who can make things… interesting.”
A nervous shiver runs down my spine.
“Thanks.”
I’m not sure if that was the right response, I just wish Logan would hurry and get his ass down to the pool.
